Application and Development of Unshaped Refractories


    Unshaped refractories are refractories that can be used directly after the delivery of loose mixtures and forming and baking without pre-firing. According to the construction method, there are castables, ramming materials, plastics, spray coatings, refractory mud, etc. Refractory castables are the most productive and fastest-growing materials in monolithic refractories, accounting for about 55% of all monolithic refractories.


    The rapid development of monolithic refractories has increased the production ratio to the current 60-70%, and the production ratio of monolithic refractories in my country has also reached about 40%.


    The main advantages of unshaped refractories include: simple process, energy saving, low cost; mechanized operation, high construction efficiency; can be arbitrarily shaped to make an integral lining, good thermal shock stability, high strength, and strong spalling resistance , enhance the service life; can be partially repaired, online or offline repair, improve the operation rate.


    The CDQ system is composed of a coke quenching chamber, a primary dust collector, a high temperature expansion device, a waste heat boiler and a secondary dust collector. The CDQ chamber adopts a circular design, from top to bottom, it is divided into an upper cone, a pre-storage section, an inclined air duct, a cooling section and a lower cone. Most of the lining refractories in the CDQ system are made of refractory bricks, and only a small number of parts are made of unshaped refractories. In recent years, due to various reasons, the refractory bricks in the slanted air ducts have been broken within 1 to 2 years of production, and normal production cannot be carried out; the refractory bricks in the cooling section have been rubbed by cold coke for a long time, and have been produced for more than a year, with serious wear and tear; high temperature expansion and contraction The castables at the inlet of the boiler and boiler are often easy to fall off during the production process.


    Before the CDQ coke oven is put into production again, the key point is to pay attention to the maintenance and drying of the castable. If the casting material is constructed in the cooling section of the CDQ oven and the inclined air duct, it should be dried with warm air first to remove a large amount of water in the castable. It is not recommended to directly use a red coke oven to prevent the castable from bursting or cracking due to excessive temperature. After drying with warm air for about 3 days, red coke can be put in, and a red coke oven can be used.
