In the process of casting refractory castables, there are the following methods to effectively reduce the risk of refractory castables freezing:

1) Stir and heat with water

 

Put an electric heater or steam into the storage bucket for mixing water. You can also ignite wood under the bucket to directly heat the storage bucket, increasing the water temperature to 15~35°C.

 

2) Add a certain amount of coagulant when stirring

 

The coagulant can shorten the solidification time and cause the castable to solidify slowly and freeze. It is best to be carried out at the same time as the water temperature heating, and the effect is better.

 

3) Use as soon as possible after mixing to prevent freezing during transportation.

 

Shorten the transportation distance as much as possible. After mixing the refractory castable, it should be transported to the pouring site immediately, and it should be used up within 15 minutes. During construction in winter, the transportation time should be shortened as much as possible to prevent the refractory castable in the refractory castable from freezing, and the refractory castable should be vibrated in time after being poured into the casting position.

In winter, after part of the construction of the refractory castable is completed, heat preservation and anti-freezing measures should be taken in time to ensure that the refractory castable will not be damaged during the curing process. There are several practical maintenance and heat preservation methods on site:

Cover the roof of the heating furnace, the door of the inlet and outlet furnace and the air leakage of the heat storage box with canvas or plastic film to prevent the cold air outside the furnace from blowing into the furnace, so as to achieve the effect of heat preservation. When adopting this method, pay attention to fire prevention and safety of high-altitude operations during construction. Because of cross-operations at the construction site, it is necessary to prevent sparks from electric welding from igniting the canvas or plastic film and causing fire incidents.

 

2) Maintenance and heat preservation method two

 

Place a part of iodine tungsten lamp or heating fan in the furnace, and use the principle of heat radiation to increase the ambient temperature in a certain area in the furnace, so as to achieve the effect of curing and heat preservation of the material after pouring. When adopting this method, we must pay attention to the prevention of electric shock of personnel, the arrangement of wires, the placement of iodine tungsten lamps or heating fans (it is advisable not to hinder the operation).

 

3) Maintenance and heat preservation method three

 

Place several stoves made of oil drums in the furnace to ignite the coke or wood in the furnace to increase the temperature in the heating furnace, or to ignite the wood pile on the refractory bricks at the bottom of the furnace, and the firewood can be supervised by a dedicated person to increase the furnace. Ambient temperature. Due to environmental protection inspections, this method is generally not allowed to be used on site, and the smoke from burning wood is relatively large, which affects the work of construction personnel, and the safety is poor. This is a last resort method to ensure the construction period when the heat preservation conditions are limited on site.

 

4) Maintenance and heat preservation method four

 

In the construction site where conditions permit, pipes can be placed at the bottom of the furnace to pass steam to increase the ambient temperature in the furnace. This method is safe and can achieve the effect of heat preservation. The temperature in the furnace is relatively uniform and long-lasting, which is currently a more recommended method.
